Marilia Garcia Lazo - Executive Director
Marilia Garcia Lazo is an international human rights lawyer and former refugee committed to advancing transnational accountability and the enforcement of human rights norms beyond territorial boundaries. A graduate of Harvard University and the University of Oxford, where she specialized in International Human Rights Law, Marilia brings together rigorous legal training and the insights of lived experience to challenge impunity and strengthen rule of law institutions in post-conflict settings.
Her work with the United Nations and global civil society has focused on transitional justice mechanisms, legal accountability for conflict-related sexual violence, and institutional reform in contexts marked by displacement and systemic injustice. Universal Justice for All is her legal and moral imperative: to ensure that displaced populations are not excluded from justice processes, and that the pursuit of accountability transcends geography, politics, and power.

Niurys Robaina is a distinguished civil litigator known for her sharp legal insight and unwavering commitment to justice. A graduate of Florida International University College of Law, where she earned her degree with honors, Niurys has built a reputation as a thoughtful and highly effective advocate.
Her extensive litigation experience, coupled with a deep dedication to accountability and survivor-centered advocacy, strengthens Universal Justice for All’s mission to bring justice beyond borders. As Litigation Director, she leads the initiative’s legal strategy with clarity, conviction, and an unshakable belief in the rule of law. Her work ensures that the campaign's efforts are rooted in both legal excellence and principled purpose.
